Empowered Brothels

Trigger warning: there are some radical thoughts coming up that may trigger people - please take care of your wellbeing. Some of the ideas will test the way we look at the world and what we hold as truth. Some thoughts may not have merit, but they are questions worth examining.

Let’s look at a new paradigm for prostitution (sex work, which is the latest term) based on providing a needed service, having all those participating, from providers to consumers, empowered. What if we left out judgement, morality, and the seedy trappings that sometimes exist currently?

1) What if everyone participating chose to be there?

2) What if there were equity between givers and receivers?

3) What if shame and guilt didn’t figure into it?

4) What if it occurred in the open and not hidden?

5) What if it were available to males and females alike?

6) What if respect, communication, consent, and humanity were present?

In the USA prostitution is only legal in a few places in Navada, although it occurs across the country illegally. The problem with it being illegal is that the prostitutes/sex workers themselves are not protected because they can’t call the police when needed. It also encourages people who thrive on using others to enslave them. Sex workers are often pushed to seedy areas, have no regular medical screening which also endangers the customers, and become invisible.

Let’s imagine a time when a brothel is located in a regular neighborhood, known to exist, and the comings and goings were the same as other businesses. No undue scrutiny. What if the workers were there because they wanted to be, were paid well, had healthcare, and maybe partial ownership. Imagine the workers are of all orientations, without guilt or shame, and respected for the service they provided.

I can imagine young men working there and getting all the sex they want without having to pressure women/girls around them who may not be on the same page. I can imagine older women who would like sex but don’t know where to go either working there or visiting.

What if a boy or girl coming of age wanted their first experience to be tender, caring, empowering, and they chose to come here to be with someone who actually knew what they were doing? The focus being on empowering that first experience of sex. No fumbling around in the dark, worried about whether I was doing it right, and having it over in a second. Wondering, “is this all.” What if coming of age came with the choice of how the person wanted to experience sex for the first time?

It does point to older males and females instructing younger people, since they would have more experience. The commonly held belief is that there is something wrong or usury about sex within certain age differences. I wonder if it were available, how many young adults would opt for this? Perhaps some of the people we call “perverted” would actually be of service and revered.

What if peace, safety, and empowerment was the focus? What if everybody who wanted to have sex could easily do so without the current stigma. What if it were as accepted as going to a therapist, massage therapist, or spa? What if people realized how much sex is part of being human and the impact it has on overall wellbeing?

I don’t know how we get there but I know for certain that if we talked openly about sex, removed the hang-ups, and eliminated the shady side of sex, life would be much more peaceful and satisfying.

Things that would fall away might be:

1) Sex trafficking profitability

2) Sex tourism allure

3) Sex used for control and manipulation

4) Pedophilia and incest incidents

5) Loneliness and disconnection from human touch

6) Dissatisfying loss of virginity

7) Upset and resignation when a partner no longer desires sex

Things that make you say hummmmmm………….
